Coaching Staff bios, Apparel, Parent Kickoff Meeting and Car Wash

Hello Parent and Athletes,
This has been a busy summer with organizing Lincoln and being on the Board of Thills Water Polo.  I just returned from the Junior Olympics and have been in full swing getting the season rolling.  I have two SEVERAL announcements included in this email.

I am excited to announce our coaching staff:
Andrew Wilson
Andrew's aquatics career began in 6th grade swimming for Clovis Swim Club and continued through high school.  This led to playing water polo for Clovis High School in Clovis, CA.  He played for Clovis High School four years where he was an All-American, 1st Team All-Valley, 1st Team All-League, and Sassano Award Winner.  He helped bring a CIF section title to CHS after a 25+ year drought his junior year and lead CHS to a CIF section runner-up his senior year.  Andrew played club water polo after high school and began coaching right away at his Alma Mater.  He was the assistant varsity coach for 2 seasons before taking a head coaching role at Clark Intermediate School.  After a year of head coaching at Clark, he went back to assistant coach at Clovis High, while taking an area all-star team to the Speedo Cup.  Andrew also coached the central section OPD team during this time, while taking teams to Junior Olympics as well.  Some notable JO finishes are 26th (Clovis 18's), 12th (Clovis 16's), and 17th (Chehalem 18's).  Andrew moved to Portland to pursue graduate school and began to officiate during the high school season and coach the Chehalem (Newberg) Club Water Polo teams in the offseason.

"I love to see growth and development in athletes and students.  Hard work, discipline, unity, trust, and accountability are paramount for success in life and in the sport of water polo.  I believe we can learn and teach these character traits, while building people who's character will carry them far past their time in competitive sport - and we can have fun in the process!  I have had the privilege to play alongside and be developed by amazing people who have incredible knowledge and skill, and I desire to pass this along to others."
Emily Schmitt
She began her water polo career Tualatin Hills Water Polo Club, playing consistently for the club from 1997 to 2002.  A four-year varsity athlete at Westview High School, she lead the team as captain for 2 consecutive Metro League and State championships.  In 2000, her team won the Western States championships in Modesto, California.  She was recognized as the 2000 & 2001 Metro League MVP and 2001 State MVP.  Emily played Division I water polo at Indiana University.  Her team won the 2002 Eastern Conference championship, resulting in a trip to the NCAA Championship tournament.  She spent a semester aboard studying and playing water polo in Cape Town, South Africa.  As an NCAA student-athlete and team captain, she learned valuable lessons that prepared her for life outside of the athletic arena.
As a coach, her desire is to share the game that she loves so dearly.  Her goal is to inspire athletes to build their knowledge of the game, improve technique and skill in the pool, and enjoy the challenges and rewards that athletics provide.
Lisa Gibson
Lisa played for Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics.  She just recently returned from competing in the World Championship Games.  At the games she was asked to play professionally for a team in Spain!   Lisa will be leaving for her season on Sept 2, 2013.  She will be participating with the athletes in the water during some of the pre-season practices while Coach Andrew and Coach Emily are on deck.  We are so lucky to have Lisa as part of our family.  She will keep us informed of her success in Europe and inspire Lincoln athletes to consider playing pro water polo.  Go Lisa!!!!
Jim Prihoda
The father of Thomas Prihoda, Jim has generously volunteered to be a backup coach at games and tournaments due to illness, traffic and an other unforeseen issues that might occur while we are in season.  Like all the coaches he took the 10 plus hours of certification to graciously volunteer!  Thank you Jim!

I am so excited about this season.  So much has evolved since I joined LHS 8 years ago.  Raise a glass and cheers to a fabulous upcoming season!
