Welcome to The 2013 Lincoln Water Polo Season
Your session at begins on August 19th. Attached is the 2013 Season Schedule.
Note: preseason ~ you will have daily doubles. Study the schedule carefully, as it has changed for PRE-SEASON!!!!!
Below are a few details to help you ease into your first week of pre-season practice.
On the first day of your practice, please meet outside by the athletic entrance at the MAC, Aug19th at 6pm.
Coach Andrew and Coach Emily will do call roll and introduce you to your fellow athletes. You will then proceed to the LHS track for dryland practice.
I have attached a roster ~ still many of you are missing information. Bring it on Monday or you will be sent home. The parent consent is part of the 2013 doctors physical form (I have attached it and it can be found on the blog). For some reason, many of you did not complete this portion of the form. Please do so. Do not email it ~ please print it ~ mail it or bring it to practice on Monday if you are missing it.
Always be prepared for practice in the following manner:
- Eat a healthy meal at least 1 hour before your practice
- Wear a t-shirt, athletic shorts, and running shoes for the dryland workout
- Water bottle
- Swimsuit, goggles and towel
- Photo ID ~ preferably Lincoln or and ID with your photo from 8th grade or permit etc.
- Warm clothing for after practice
- Please make sure that your ride home is prompt for your pickup
Many parents have questions which will be addressed at the Aug 27th parent meeting. To address a few now:
- As for carpooling, we do not organize it. For Pre-Season you are welcome to use the roster to organize rides. There are no buses for pre-season or the season. We will discuss how the rides situation works at the parent meeting and volunteering. Diane Scott will train someone to take it over for this season.
- The address for the pool at PSU is the Stott Center Pool. Please use the PSU website for directions. Please meet on the front steps of the Stott Center and wait for the coaches to arrive. DO NOT BE LATE ~ 3:15pm sharp on Tuesday Aug 20th!
- During school we will not have some JV games due to school or team that do not have JV. This will be decided week to week. As for now we do not know which Metro teams have JV. An athlete will not miss more than one day a week of school. Always, the student come first! The student/athlete/parent and teacher must work together.
Parents are always welcome to observe practice at PSU and if you are a member of the MAC. Many parents enjoy watching their athlete during pool time and socialize with other parents in the program.
We will have a Parent Social August 27th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Stark Home, 4625 SW 53rd Avenue, Portland, OR 97221. The evening will be a social and informative gathering for parents. I realize you have many questions regarding the season. We will share everything we know about all the LINCOLN happenings from games/tournaments, to getting involved and why this journey is fun for parents too! Let us help you plan your calendar AND socialize over treats and beverages!
I have attached the agenda for the Aug 27th Parent Meeting and Parent Volunteer Positions. Positions are open and need to be filled. You can let me know the eve of Aug 27th.
Our mission is to serve all members of our community who have a desire to participate in the sport of waterpolo as a recreational activity, and provide dedicated athletes with the opportunity to practice and compete at the highest possible level.
I want to remind you that learning balance as a student/athlete is critical to your success in your college and career. Water Polo has helped many student/athletes develop this ability! Be patient with yourself, learn at your own pace, listen to the coaches, ask for support from your team, your parents and your teachers. AND YOU WILL HAVE THE MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE EVER!
PLEASE read the blog for updates. I am happy to answer questions: however, I would appreciate you looking for the info on the blog before contacting me. We are in the process of updating the google calendar.
Again, welcome to the 2013 Lincoln Water Polo Family!
Warmly,
Anita Stark
