REDMOND BOOT CAMP 8/24 - 8/31, 2012


LHS Water Polo Parents/Guardians,
It's time to start planning our yearly Water Polo jamboree followed by the team training boot camp.

Coaches Jeff Phelps and Lloyd Parlette will compile a preliminary list for the Redmond jamboree in late August of attendees.  There is a possibility that EVERYONE will be attending so EVERYONE must send a confirmation deposit by July 12 so that we can proceed with bookings. IF you are not chosen to attend then your deposit will be returned to you.

THE DATES FOR THE REDMOND CAMP ARE:  Depart Portland Friday, August  24, about 11 AM - returning Friday, August 31st, about 6 PM.
We have two homes that we have rented in Bend for the girls and boy’s teams.  There will be more pool and dry-land time in Bend as the teams will stay in Bend following the weekend tournament in Redmond.

When we have confirmation on the numbers attending, we will establish the final fee (generally $550) and ask for your final payment by August 20.  More information will be forthcoming, but below is a list of the essentials you need to know at this time.  As always, let us know your questions, comments or concerns.

What is the LHS Water Polo Boot Camp?  The week in Central Oregon starts with the Redmond Jamboree.  Each team from across the State competes in 8-10 short game scrimmages from mid afternoon Friday, August 24th through the weekend.   

On Monday and lasting through noon on Friday, August 31st, our teams hold rigorous dry-land and pool practices, scrimmages with local teams, and have mind-bending, quality time with team mates and coaches.

Dates:  Depart Portland Friday, August  24, about 11 AM - returning Friday, August 31st, about 6 PM.
Location:  Cascade Swim Center, 465 SW Rimrock Way, Redmond  and Juniper Swim Center, 800 NE 6th, Bend, Oregon.
Housing:  Two rental houses in Bend, one for the girls team and one for the boys team.  Martha Shephard (Annie’s Mom) and the coaches will chaperone the respective houses.  
Transportation:  Bus transportation for the entire week will be provided by First Student (formerly Laidlaw) from Portland.
Fees:  We estimate costs per player will be about $550 for the week depending on the number attending.  This includes all events, pool and tournament fees, lodging, transportation to & from Redmond and during the week, dinner Saturday-Thursday (remember, our coaches volunteer their time!).  Players should anticipate additional out-of-pocket expenses for lunches and first night's dinner (usually pizza).  For the incoming exchange student (Rudolpho)  please provide the funds for the camp when you arrive in the USA.  
Scholarships:  If there is a student who needs financial assistance, please let Anita or the coaches know and we will work to determine how much need can be met by the club.  
Food:  Players should anticipate additional out-of-pocket expenses for lunches and first night's dinner (usually pizza).  We will not be asking parents to provide non perishable food and snack staples this year as that has resulted in lots of leftover items.  Instead, food planning will occur daily with frequent trips for groceries by Martha Shephard and Jim Claypool.  Please do let us know of your child’s special dietary restrictions or items that need to be available for them.
